What is the autumn season in the UK? By the meteorological calendar, the first day of autumn is always 1 September; ending on 30 November. The seasons are defined as spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August), autumn (September, October, November) and winter (December, January, February). During this time, temperatures will start to drop, daylight times will become shorter to prepare for the Winter Solstice, and trees will begin to shed their leaves. So, if you are planning external painting or maintenance projects, you must make the most of the next few weeks and purchase your paints and coatings now.

When painting externally, beware of heavy thunder storms washing away your newly-applied paint, particularly water-based types. However, now is the ideal time to undertake those larger external jobs such as walls, roofs, industrial plant and farm buildings. It’s also a great time to dry out any damp surfaces before painting.
