Frequently Asked Questions.

We are regularly approached with a variety of questions by professional decorators, architects, builders & paint merchants and of course DIY enthusiasts alike. The following list is representative of some of the queries we deal with on a day to day basis, but is by no means comprehensive! Please email or call us for paint advice on 01202 295 570.

Q: Are the colours on my computer screen accurate?
A: Computer screens cannot represent paint colours accurately or consistently as lighting conditions and screen settings vary between monitors. To help colour matching, we do recommend you source a BS4800 or RAL colour card/swatch locally before placing your order.

Q: How do I know that I have all that I need for my project?
A: We have tried to make our website as informative as possible, with User Guides and associated products to help you make your selections. If you are at all unsure, contact us with details and we will endeavour to make sure you identify everything you require to complete your project.

Q: Do you keep paint in stock? 
A: All products are made to order for our customers, however some standard colours and seasonal products such as Swimming Pool Paints and Tennis Court Coatings are available for dispatch within 24 hours of ordering.

Q: What about Value Added Tax (VAT) on Technical Paint Services products?
A: All prices displayed on the Technical Paint Services website exclude VAT at 20%. VAT will be applied on all quotations and invoices.

Q: Do you deliver to the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight?
A: Yes, we can arrange special deliveries to all of the above, however special rates do apply. Please allow a suitable period of time as it can take up to 7 working days for goods to be delivered once your order is ready for dispatch.

Q: How much will delivery cost?
A: All delivery charges are by individual quotation. Please see our "Delivery" page for full details of all other charges.

Q: How long will delivery take?
A: Goods will normally be dispatched within 1-5 days of receipt of the order and delivered within 24 hours from the day of dispatch (Mainland UK). Delivery will be by courier and must be signed for upon delivery, unless you have given us alternative instructions (a signature will still be required).

Q: Do you ship to other countries?
A: At present we don’t arrange shipment outside the UK, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man or Isle of Wight. However, we can offer advice on this and are happy to deliver goods directly to a freight-forwarder or other delivery company on your behalf on an Ex Works only basis. All costs and liabilities are with the buyer.

Q: Can I arrange for my order to be delivered to an address other than my own?
A: Yes it's simple; just tell us where you would like it delivered noting that someone will need to sign on your behalf.

Q: Can I pay for my order when I receive it?
A: No. All products must be paid for prior to dispatch.

Q: Can I return goods to you?
A: Technical Paint Services are a specialist paint manufacturer and make all coloured paint finishes to order on receipt of payment, by phone, email, or in writing and not beforehand. This can take between a couple of hours or up to 7 days for unusual and special colours and finishes, which are classed as bespoke or personalised and are not returnable unless faulty. Please be aware all returned goods are subject to our Returns Policy and Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Q: Do you have a paint that will smarten up my swimming pool?
A: Yes it’s easy using our WB148 Swimming Pool and Pond Paint. Available in many colours, it is non toxic and will give many years of protection.

Q: This may sound odd, but my conservatory is getting very hot; can you help prevent this?
A: Try our Anti-Glare coatings in temporary or permanent finish which will help reflect the sun, keeping your room cooler.

Q: I have an old asbestos garage which I don’t want to dismantle. Can we paint it safely?
A: To encapsulate asbestos, use E27 Acrylic Paint which will seal and protect the surface. As with many substrates and paint systems, it is important that you read the relevant Data Sheet before use.

Q: Our tarmac drive looks old and grey. Is there a product that will rejuvenate the appearance?
A: Absolutely! Refresh it with E27 Acrylic paint in Black, or a choice of BS4800 colours.

Q: I have heard that there are changes in legislation regarding solvent based paints. Do you have water based alternatives?
A: We offer alternatives to most solvent based finishes and we are happy to discuss. Just call us on 01202 295 570.

Q: I manage a large decorating contractor company. With the constant development of new substrates and the effect of the “Green” movement, are you able to keep me up to date with new legislation?
A: Visit the Health & Safety page of our web site which is regularly updated to advise changes in the law.

Q: Can you match colours across reference systems?
A: Technical Paint Services provide a colour matching service and where possible will try and cross match between standard ranges.

Q: We recently moved house and I would like to paint the swimming pool; have you any advice as I have never done this before?

Q: We are undertaking our own Sports Club court maintenance this year to help the club save money. Do you sell squash court paint and how do we go about the task? Please advise.
A: We make and sell our own Squash Court Paint and also Tennis Court Paint if your club has tennis facilities. Please see our FREE Guide to preparing and painting a squash court

Q: What are your opening times?
A: We are open Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm (except Bank Holidays). We normally close for lunch when our voicemail system is available. You can also contact us by email.
